Graduates

Portland Community College: Dental Assisting Program
June 8th 2010

This is just the BLUE group (with a few girls missing).

There were 3 groups total; Blue, Yellow, and Red.
31 Girls and 1 Boy, (and 4 babies)!
We started out as 50 (2 boys) and each term you either made it or didn't.
I think the most stressful times of my life happened during this program, which was only 9 months long!
But those 9 months seemed like years with all the knowledge they had to throw at us to memorize.

Timea, Me, Rachel, and Aimee (one of the girls who had a baby during the year)

Here I am on stage, being nervous... haha

Just some members of my fan club :)

Nathan had a final that night but raced over from Rock Creek (to Sylvania) and made it for the 2nd half of the program!

Thanks to Tucker and my mom for taking these pics!

School!

(don't mind my messy room! I don't have time to clean it anymore)!

Second week of school already!
I can already tell you more than you would even want to know about a TOOTH.
I am also really good at taking x-rays and making models,
even when my film drops in a puddle on the floor and everyone joins me in patting the ground to find it!

I have made some cool new friends.
Everyone in the program is either around my age or over 25.
There are also two guys! (albeit a little greasy and weird)
We are divided into three color groups to rotate in labs, so we don't get to see everyone all that much but the RED group is awesome.

I can't decide on how I feel about it yet.
I know I definitely HATE it.
But I also really LOVE it too.
This year will definitely be more stressful and overwhelming as the national exams start coming up in the Spring! YIKES!
.
.
.
Oh, it also doesn't help when you first open your textbook to check it out and you see this:
and many, many, MANY more pictures of people's awesomely looking mouths.

Best News I've Heard All Day

It's Official
I'M IN!!!!!

Now I have to figure out where all this money is coming from.
But the good news along with it: I get on my mom's insurance so I can get my wisdom teeth out!
(OUCH they hurt real bad)!

Sorry Chelle, I think I will still have the hook up at DQ, and I don't know toothbrushes ARE kind of expensive these days...along with those other cool instruments they use like the super sharp gum bleeder stick.

Hey New Year, Come again.

Hung out with Jessica, Billy, and Brandon at the Embassy Suites Hotel. At 12:00 all the guests started throwing streamers, confetti, toilet paper, coasters, basically anything they had down the center (all the rooms are on the outside so it's like a big empty circle in the middle). Then this older middle-aged man started kissing people and me and Jess ran back to our rooms. Um no thanks, he wasn't very cute and was wearing a tuxedo...a little to fancy for the emabassy I think.

Nathan is wearing his new fav. shirt he brought home when he went to Mt. Bachelor with the boys. It's ridiculously bright.

Yup, it's 2009. wooooop de doooooo.
ha

Nathan has started his second term at PCC and thinks this this one is gonna be hard. All of his classes are at night; starting at 6 pm and the latest one ends at 10 pm. YEAH! Freakin' four hours of class, not to mention it's architectural drawing. DRAWING! FOR 4 HOURS! Not one of his favorites.
(He only wishes these hotties were in his classes. hahaha)
He also is enjoying being threatened by other students there that drive a purple car with purple rims. Other than that he is job hunting and has applied to a few places. He really wants one (okay, not really but he would like one) to keep him occupied during the day, besides doing homework. His friend Rem (Brandon) works at a place called Good Shepard where they take care of mentally disabled people, give meds out, drive them places, change their sheets/clothes/etc. They are hiring so him and Brandon (Kang) applied and I think they might get it! Which is cool, not really a hands on, skillful job but it will be interesting.

I am working. And working. I work during the morning at VP and then to keep myself occupied and the cash flow a-comin' I went back to Dairy Queen so that I could keep paying my bills and my loan and get myself back in school faster. That and really, what was I supposed to do at night with Nathan at school all the time!? Just Kidding, I don't get that many hours at DQ it's more like I am on call everyday. And Dairy Queen is the most glamorous job so why wouln't I want to be there?! kidding...
Otherwise I am at home to keep myself from shopping and so far, I say with time I think I will get better at it. But on that note, my pair of boots just came in the mail today and I'm SO EXCITED! I've been waiting to wear this dress I got to wear with them. ha

I am applying to PCC's dental assisting program and hopefully I will get in! It's a throw all the app's in a bucket and pull one out kind of choosing so hopefully they will pull mine. Otherwise I have to wait till Fall 2010 to try again. Not cool.

4-16-2008

I couldn't think of a catchy title, nor did I feel like placing one up there, so I put the date. I think it's important in itself, because most dates you can't even remember what you did. Anyways...I found another post I liked on postsecret (which i LOVE):
I thought it was really funny because my mom used to yell at me and my siblings for leaving things in our clothes. She would either take the money that she found, or put it on top of the shelf above the washing/dryer machines. And yes, I would be the one to take the money, cuz hey! finders keepers right?! But when I started doing my own laundry, I never check my pockets so later when i wore the pants I just watched, I would find all sorts of things, usually money and that was basically the highlight of my day.

Below this post on postsecret, someone wrote, "It's okay mom, i got it from your purse anyway." HAHAHA oh man, I never took my mom's money, I would usually go to my dad after asking her cuz he would fork it over, and always usually too much, but I thought it was really funny and shared it with the rest of the world.

So Chloe Sprinkles is a BIG TIME freak of a canine. I seriously think something is wrong with her. She runs laps around my house, going so fast that her fur is blown back and all you see is a darting black torpedo running fast. She is absolutely nuts. She loves leaves and grass. Which is partly the reason for why she only poops in the house, on the same carpet every time. And it's green. I'm not sure if dogs can see color, but I think she likes green things. She also has an infatuation with socks. She will pull them off of your feet and just go crazy! She is also teething, and make a huge gash in my thumb, and basically everything else. She jumps on everything, and hops around like a bunny rabbit. Usually putting her front paws down, then swinging her back paws around. I don't know, I really don't think this is normal. My family is in Mexico so I'm "baby-sitting" her and I am entirely ready for my mom to come home and take over.

I like her tounge. haha

In other news: I really like my class. I think it is going to get me motivated to start working out again. My teacher is really funny too, although a little weird. And I made a friend, haha. This kid I worked with on the get to know your class" on the first day of school, we were walking out for our first break last class period, and I was going to the bathroom, which apparently is right next to the smoking box, so he turns around and says...
"Do you smoke?"
"uh. No, I just have to pee really bad and the bathroom is right there."
"oh ok, cuz that would be crazy if you smoked, you don't look like a smoker"
"okay. Do you smoke?"
"No, well haha not cigarettes."
"ohhh. i see. that's interesting."
HAHA okay, I thought it was funny, and maybe it is when i say in in person, and not having you read it, but yeah it was like awkward, and a little surprising. Yeah I should be doing my homework for tomorrow, but I will soon...hopefully before I fall asleep.

Man, getting up at 6:00 am really kills ya. I seriously can't stay awake past 11:00pm at the LATEST! But I really like my new job (I'm just saying that for you Nic.... so don't read on...)
Just kidding, it's not bad. I would be doing the same thing, but for myself, in my spare time anyway so it's cool. Today I actually had to use my brain, by trying to solve the mystery puzzle of Halton Rental. And i think I got i figured it all out. We'll know by tomorrow.

Yeah, well It's almost my bed time and i gotta go smoke some ciggy's while in bed, so...

HAHA oh yeah, I had to take a little test thing (not really a test like a 1 for always 2 for sometimes 3 for never type) for my class, and one of the questions was: "Do you avoid smoking ciggarettes in bed?" ummm WHAT?! that was so weird, I usually sleep in my bed, it's not really where I flick my ciggy's in, but after telling Nathan, he informed me that a lot of older people smoke in bed. So whatever apparently I don't smoke enough to know what's cool or not.

TA DAH!

So since I found my camera cord and all, I decided instead of sleeping so that I can wake up at the butt crack of dawn, I will put pictures on here. That and my brother keeps texting me and I can't NOT let a text go unread. SO here we go: the first of are when me and nate made dinner for ourselves, I know how giving of us.
It looks like Nathan is really enjoying it, so much that it's making him have food coma and falling asleep! Either that or he is just really taking in every sense of the delicious food we made, taste and smell, its noise and feelings.

These next ones are of Chris' wedding.

Me and CC decided to take crazy pictures on the way home. (prebooger infestation on her part)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Be Responsible!

What a Week

I am glad this week is over. It was great, sure, but very packed. I took Nathan and his parents to the airport, driving the FJ was fun. Although when your used to a little car, you know you can't see over the bridge's walls, however in a lifted vehicle you can. So I freaked out and thought it was my time to die when I looked over and all i saw was water, and not concrete. I survived, don't worry. The next day I had 'the talk' with my mother. Yes, the one about switching schools and changing my entire life. Not as exciting as the 'other talk' would be like, I wouldn't know, I figured that one out in the fifth grade partially because I'm gross, and very open, gotta love those fifth grade boys. hahaha that sounds bad. it's really not. Anyway, after being yelled at for that, i decided i would go ahead and work my plan not caring what anyone thought. So i went to PCC, paid them money, made them sign me for my ONE class, and left. After I left, I figured i should probably pay for that class, but oh well I have two weeks to do so...
I  babysat Nic and Hailey's kids, which is always fun, until someone gets hurts. Or pees their pants, whichever comes first. haha but it was fun, we playdoughed, and watched half of every movie, and cried over the bumbo seat, and had poopy's, and fights over string cheese. Man, I can't imagine what I was like as a child. I wish I could go back.
We also got a new dog, well my mom got a new dog, it's a lhaso apso/yorkie mix. And I would put pictures up but I think I lost my cable to my camera to the computer. Once I find it, I'll do that. It's black, it's name is Chloe, and it also likes to pee all over the house. WOW.
Oh and me and Jewsoph went down to Western to move my stuff out of my room too. I almost didn't make it because there was a car crash and we think someone died. So we had to turn around, and drive like chickens with no heads. Luckily we found a street (btw, the GPS thing in the FJ, won't let you add a address search. Unless we are completely stupid, we couldn't figure it out) and made it to the office at 4:57 p.m. Just in time, then it took around an hour and a half to move everything. That sucked. And I made Jewsoph late for his workout date with GLO. SO SORRY! but I bought him dinner at the crazy guy teriyaki place in dundee. THey hired a guy who speaks real english, so we didn't see so much of crazy, although Jewsoph asked him for sweet chili sauce and came back with tabasco sauce. hmmm interesting. none the less it was good food.
I worked at Dicks, fri, sat, and sun (today). CRAZY! It was the grand opening. But since we've been opened for two weeks now, i didn't think it would be that bad. Customers were so angry yesterday becuase their coupon wouldn't work on their certain golf balls. One guy told me that "if he ran a business he wouldn't make coupons that excluding things, it's not ethical to do that, and what kind of business am i running by doing that." So i kindly told him that I didn't run Dicks sporting goods, and I also didn't make the coupons so if wanted to complain, he could  probably call the owner of Dicks, Dick himself, or maybe he should try the printing agency who printed the coupons off. Lucky for the rest of them, that was my last customer for the day. Then today, of course it was a madhouse. Greg Oden appeared for an hour, and people were mad that they weren't the first 200 people. I told them that Greg Oden's mother had dinner waiting for him, and since he's still a growing boy, I'm sure he must need to eat too and can't sign autographs all day. They had three others signing downstairs, and all the fans decided they wanted basketballs to have signed. All basketballs sold out. Then half got returned because they weren't quick enough. EH. too bad for them. Obviosuly I LOVE my job. It's great, but I just quit, sort of. I told Baker, who is kind of a douche (me and jayde decided this today), that i was quiting and he just stared at me. So i was caught in a banana! and then said, "well I guess i can still work saturdays" and he said, "oh ok well whatever. I don't care." UMMMMMMM what?! yeah. in a few weeks i'll write and say it's official that we must break up. Our dick's sporting goods relationship will now be over.
This is really long, but if you read it, you were probably bored, so I gave you something to do :) with no pictures. It's like reading an actual big person book. but here's one that I drew for Kevin because he missed his quad.

The Big Finale

Finals this week, pretty excited because I hate the classes I'm taking. My Substance Abuse teacher gave us a take home final which was a BIG relief since I haven't gone to that class in ohhhhhh about a month. I'm a slacker, I know.

side note: I'm watching A Baby Story on TLC right now because it's the only thing on, and it is absolutely crazy. this lady has like her entire family in the room with her. WHY would you want so many people looking at your vagina?! idk. I wouldn't.

ANYWAY... I'm excited for next semester even though I have biology, but I'm taking classes to get into the dental assistant program at pcc, hopefully next semester. Then after that I can take the rest of the courses I need to get into the dental hygiene program. I'm excited. I have a plan for my life, and that's what I've been trying to find. Now if I could just peel myself away from Dairy Queen, my life will be more wonderful. haha really, though, the DQ just sucks you right back in without realizing it. But I guess they will always welcome me, no matter which one I go to, for when I am suddenly homeless with 8 kids, and can only wear purple spandex shorts and flannel shirts.

By the way: I LOVE working at Dicks Sporting Goods. Even though my feet, back, and everything hurts at the end of the day, I enjoy it and I've made friends who are pretty cool. (well why would I be friends with them, if they weren't cool?! jk)

I'll post pictures when I get back to school. I forgot my usb cable. oops.
