Congrats to Katie!

My friend Katie from school found out she was pregnant the 3rd week of school so I've felt like I've been going through this with her, keeping her on track with school, sitting in the back of the class talking baby, feeling kicks, shopping, updates on her emergency hospital visits, how to tell her grandparents, etc. She had a rough pregnancy this time compared to her first so I'm glad I was there and really proud of her for going through THAT and our school program!

She finally had her baby on Wednesday morning, May 19th, at 4:00 am. 

She went in with more stomach pains, which she was having a lot of throughout the whole term, and the baby's heart rate repeatedly kept dropping and scares of delivering happened through the whole term. This time it was for real but the nurses at the hospital closer to her house wanted to send her home still. 

She went to the bathroom before she left, said she felt something weird, told the nurses who didn't believe her, and 5 minutes later on the side of an exam room table, Ashlynn Edith Lorraine was born!

 I went up and saw them that night. 

She was born 3 weeks early and is a little bruised from coming out so fast, but she's still the cutest baby I've ever seen!

Vegas

Had our honeymoon during Spring Break this last week.

Nathan's first time and my third, not sure if he really knew about all the walking!

Here is is resting. 

We stayed at Planet Hollywood, walked around the strip looking at the hotels and window shopping.

We wanted to go see a comedian or a show but we could only afford eating at the yummy buffets

The Jaspersons were also breaking in Vegas at the same time so on Tuesday, we met up and walked around. We sampled all the Coca-Cola's from around the world. Italy's BY FAR the worst. 

Tasted like old grass and dandelions. The others were pretty interesting and actually good.

At night we went to old vegas, which I had never been too and was pretty cool to see what vegas was and what it is now.

When we got there we couldn't check in to our hotel so we had a few hours to kill. We sat down at some machines, first Nathan got pretty lucky and won a couple bucks. Then we found a slot called Texas Tea, we won about 8 dollars! haha

Everytime we gave my camera to someone to take out picture together, it stopped working and then eventually died so I don't have too many to show but we had fun and can't wait to go back and be able to do more!

Learning to Drive

Nathan is giving me another chance on learning how to drive a stick. 

Pretty soon we'll have to be getting new cars, so in preparing for what may come (if we end up with a manual), I'm going to try really hard to be a good student. haha

We had our first lesson, which started out being stopping and starting successfully, but we didn't really achieve that so it was switching into gears. 

There were two other cars in the parking lot so it was a little embarrassing, but whatever. 

But Nathan didn't yell this time (we tried to learn a year or so ago, it didn't go well), so overall it was a very good first lesson. 

Can't wait for the next one!!

Beach Weekend

Billy's godmother has a beach house at Cannon Beach, so we all went up for 'valentine's day', a week late. :)

It was so sunny and nice at the beach that weekend too!
No wind, not that cold at night, and sunny all day, made it really nice for the only shower which was OUTSIDE! 

We ate, walked around on the beach, hung out, drove to Astoria and Seaside, and just relaxed.

I bought Nathan UGGY OOS, haha, (or Ugg's), because he wanted some house slippers for our artic tundra.

And Nathan's gift to me was a spur of the moment/we were kinda bored/it would look awesome piercing

Our Valentines

Our Valentines Celebration started with buying a TV!

It's quite possibly the biggest thing in our house and we're glad it fits.

Saturday night we went out to Duke's and saw The Band Perry with Meredith, Brandon, and Chris for 5 dollars!!

And they're actually famous, they sing Hip to My Heart, it's on the radio)!

Sunday, the actual V-Day, we did homework, rented Couple's Retreat (pretty funny, only because of Vince Vaughn, and a lot of cheesy at the end) and bought a heart shaped pizza!

Chicken/bacon/olives/white sauce. DELICIOUS.

The Nines

After you may have seen and/or heard this...

We landed here:

At the Nine's hotel in Portland!

It's used to be the Meier and Frank building, and now it is an awesome hotel.

The floor we were on was Tiffany Blue, White, and Cream colored.

The other rooms floor we looked at was Purple, Black, and Cream.

We ate at their restaurant, which was yummy!

On the top floor is a bar/lounge/restaurant which was VERY space agey...kinda weird when the elevator opens but they have an outside deck that looks over Pioneer Couthouse Square, and it was pretty cool.

Didn't get a picture of it up there but I got a from our room view.

Very awesome hotel, hopefully someday we can stay there again!

(and maybe find the hot pink floor) :)

Most times it's lonely in our shack because only one of us is here at any given time while the other is out at school/work but it's a nice place to sleep and fun to transform it into looking decent :)
